WHILE there is no doubting that lingerie is one of the most popular gifts to give on Valentine’s Day, many men are terrified by the prospect of venturing into a lingerie store, let alone choosing the actual product.
Thanks to luxury French lingerie boutique Simone Perele and Bras ’n’ Things, Joanna Hanf, marketing manager at outlet shopping complex Harbour Town in West Perth, has put together some crucial advice to make navigating Valentine’s Day lingerie shopping much easier.
- Know her sizes before you even think about heading to the shops. This can be easily found by taking a peak in her underwear drawer. Keep in mind you will need her bra (i.e. 10C, 12A) and brief size (i.e. 10, 14).
- Remember the lingerie is a gift for her, not you, and that she must want to wear it. So take note of the colours and styles she likes best and have a look if her bras are padded or not and if they are lacy or plain.
- Armed with the above information, let the salesperson help. They are trained fitting specialists and have an extensive knowledge of the brands and sizes, so be open to suggestions.
- Think romance and class when it comes to lingerie. Your selection should make your partner feel special and loved.
- Get in early – aim to buy something early on because stores run out of sizes quickly. It is common to see a lot of men in-store on the day of Valentine’s Day and if you want a better selection to choose from, shop ahead to maximise your options.
- Once you’ve made your selection, ensure the gift is wrapped tastefully and that you have a romantic card to accompany it – detail is everything.
