A 33-YEAR-OLD mother of two has been charged after a breath test revealed she was three times over the legal limit when she picked up her children from a Heathridge school this week.
Joondalup officers patrolling the area were stopped by a member of the public at about 2.40pm on Monday.
The person was concerned about the welfare of two children whose parents were having a dispute in a vehicle parked at the Heathridge Village Shopping Centre.
Police found the vehicle, with the driver and one of the children allegedly wearing no seatbelt.
Joondalup officer-in-charge Senior Sergeant Craig Wanstall said officers noticed a “strong smell of alcohol” and proceeded to take a breath test of the woman driving the vehicle.
“She registered an 0.15 reading; three times over the legal limit,” he said. “It is understood she had just picked up her children from school.”
A Kinross woman was charged with driving under the influence, no authority to drive and not wearing vehicle restraints.
